Cool Stainless Spiral Vegetable Slicers

Cool stainless spiral vegetable slicers...I just had to have one the other day. I have been obsessed with the raw vegan diet lately because I am such a Type A personality.

So, I made my way to the store to get one. I found a really neat spiral vegetable slicer, and I also bought some zucchini, summer squash, and carrots thinking I would make a wonderful raw veggie pasta.

Little did I realize that they are not really great vegetables uncooked. I felt like I had swallowed a barrel of hay, and it seemed to stay in my stomach a little too long. I drank tea, meditated, took multi enzymes and nothing worked.

I had to wait it out. I imagine next time I use my new slicer, I will stir fry my vegetables and err on the side of caution. :)

Anyway, here are some neat stainless spiral vegetable slicers for making super healthy pastas!

Best Rated Compact Personal Mini Fridge Refrigerators 2014

What to Look For When Buying a Mini Refrigerator?

Mini Refrigerators (or mini fridges) are classed as refrigerators that are up to 5.5 cubic feet in internal cooling capacity. They are usually cubed shaped to make maximum use of the available internal cooling storage area.
There are two types of mini refrigerator available today:
  • One type is the mini bar type fridge and was primarily designed for the hotel industry.
  • The second type that you get was primarily designed for use by a person living alone or for small families.
If we look under the hood of the mini refrigerator you will find that you get either the compressor driven type or the absorption type refrigerator.
The compressor driven mini fridge uses a hermetically sealed compressor to power it, just like its' larger cousin, the large domestic refrigerator.
Compressor driven mini refrigerators use a non-ozone depleting gas such as R134a as a refrigerating medium. They are very energy efficient and often display four or five ticks on the energy efficiency scale.
Best Compact Personal Mini Fridge Refrigerators
Absorption powered mini fridges use a heat source to power the refrigeration cycle and usually use ammonia as a refrigerating medium. These types of small refrigerators must be installed in a well ventilated space to avoid heat build up.
If you are considering, buying a mini bar fridge then there are several important points to consider. The first is that there must be a small freezer section capable of holding two to three ice trays. Check that the freezer door is well made and installed because this component is often the first to fail.
The mini fridge must also have a thermostat capable of regulating the internal temperature. The door of the mini bar refrigerator must also be strong and have the capacity of holding two or three large water bottles or beer bottles.

Below the ice box in the main body of the mini bar fridge must be a shelf capable of holding cans of beer or soft drinks. Below that there will be a small shelf for holding sliced lemons and small bottles of spirits.
Now, if you are thinking of buying a mini fridge for family use then there are a few main points to look out for. Firstly, look at the size of the freezer box. You want one that is large enough to store all your frozen foods.
Again the freezer door must be well constructed with robust hinges. The door unlike the mini bar fridge should have two shelves. The top shelf for holding butter, cheese, and eggs, while a bottom self should be able to hold one large bottle and two small bottles of water or, some soft drink cans.
The main body of the refrigerator ideally will have one main shelf for groceries and below that a small salad container. The mini refrigerator must also be thermostatically controlled.
Some mini refrigerators have a built in automatic defrost function and an internal light. These two functions will come in handy, so look out for them.
Finally check which type of mini refrigerator you are buying. Is it the compressor type or the absorption type? Always buy the compressor type and ensure that it has the highest energy savings rating. A typical consumption value for a mini refrigerator is less than one kilowatt per day.

Cooking outdoors makes us think of vacation, block parties, family reunions, picnics, and friendly get-togethers. Grilling is fun, relaxing, festive, and tasty.

Creating meal combinations for barbecue grills is something every cook enjoys. Popular side dishes that come to mind are potato salad and coleslaw, which are great sides for pulled smoked pork sandwiches along with crisp dill pickle slices, baked beans, and grilled onions.

Best Outdoor Natural Gas Barbecue Grills 2014

First, make your potato salad and coleslaw and refrigerate.

Smoked home-cooked BBQ baked beans can be made right along with the meat on the propane grill. Sliced onions can be wrapped tightly in a foil pouch with some butter and set on the back corner of the grill about a half hour before the meat is done.

To make BBQ beans on a propane or natural gas grill, place two large cans of pork and beans into a cast iron pot. Add some chopped green bell pepper along with bacon slices cut into quarters. Add some barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ground mustard, and molasses; let the cauldron bubble.

Season a Boston butt liberally with a mesquite rub. Place it on the top rack of a natural gas grill or propane grill. Place a heat safe pan under the meat on the lower grill rack. Fill the pan with pineapple juice, beer, canned nectar, or a combination of these.

As the liquid simmers, the moisture floats up and infiltrates the meat. It also protects your grill elements from grease drips.

Baste the meat while cooking to prevent it from drying out. Keeping the meat basted and moist while cooking will render a juicy tender roast. You can purchase basting solutions at the grocery or make your own.

When the meat is done to an internal temperature of 170 degrees, place it in a casserole dish. As soon as the meat can be handled, slice and shred the meat. Place it in a large crock-pot, season with pepper and salt, and add 2 cups of barbecue sauce of choice, stirring to blend. Leave it warming in the pot on low.

When ready to eat, wrap hamburger buns in paper towels and warm in the microwave for 20-25 seconds. Place pork on the buns and top with grilled onions and some coleslaw. Add extra BBQ sauce as desired. Serve along with a helping of baked beans, potato salad, and crisp sliced dill pickles.
Gas grills are so convenient, and they allow you to enjoy grilled foods year round.

If you use a propane grill, always keep an extra bottle of gas on hand. You do not want to run out of gas right in the middle of grilling foods.

Best Top Rated Infrared Grills 2014

Infrared Outdoor Grills - The New Way to Grill

The infrared grill uses a newer form of technology that cooks meat directly instead of using the convection method of the traditional barbecue grill.

In a Hurry? Click Here To See The Best Top Rated Infrared Grills of 2014!

This is a popular and effective way of grilling because it produces steaks that are seared and cooked to perfection on the outside and tender on the inside.

Grills that use the infrared technology were till late only used in restaurants and commercial establishment and have only now started making their way into households and backyards, patios and pool sides. The reason for the late entry of this technology into the household segment was the high cost - an infrared grill could set you back by a whopping few thousand dollars, depending on how large the unit was.

Best Infrared Grills Reviews and Ratings 2014

The larger of the infrared grills were, in fact, more expensive than the average cookout enthusiast could afford to install in his backyard or patio. It was only after the patent on the technology expired that manufacturers were able to provide these grills at lower cost for consumer use.
With the cost of the technology substantially reduced, the infrared burner and grill are now making inroads into the domestic segment.
What explains the growing popularity of the infrared technology? The answer is that it provides some superior functionality. A lot of cooks prefer the shorter cooking times that these grills entail, along with the superior results in meat cooking that they provide.

Some grillers confirm that meat cooked on the infrared grill is by far more succulent and tender than that cooked on any other grill. This is because instead of the one large flame that covers the entire meat, the infrared grill heats the meat through.

The higher temperatures that an infrared grill uses may have something to do with the results of the grilling. While most other grills, such as the gas and the charcoal cook at a temperature of about 700 to 750 degrees Fahrenheit, the infrared cooks at a huge 900 degrees.
In addition, the infrared is a good looking appliance. Mostly made of stainless steel, it can have as many accessories as do the other outdoor grills. A lot of units come built in with storage space, cabinets, burners, and warming areas. They also come in with electrical ignition.
The infrared grills have come under some criticism as well. While the high temperatures produced by infrared grills are better suited to cooking denser meats, they may not be so conducive to cooking softer meats such as fish, as also vegetables and fruits. Also, mastering the infrared grill is not an easy task. A lot of people need serious practice before they can turn out decent steaks on the infrared.
There are health hazards involved with cooking at high temperatures as well. Cooking meats at temperatures above 500 degrees Fahrenheit can lead to charring, which in turn has been found to produce carcinogenic compounds. If you are using an infrared grill to cook meats, it is important that you keep a close eye on the meat to ensure that it does not get charred.
